Warren St Apartment

The Warren Street Loft Residence, completed in 2012 is the result of a carefully curated collaboration between a visionary art dealer, Helene Winer, Incorporated Architecture & Design and a unique collection of art furniture dealers including Established & Sons, Johnson Trading Gallery, MATTER and The Future Perfect.

Responsible for launching the careers of visionary artist such as Cindy Sherman, Robert Longo and Richard Prince, Helene is no stranger to supporting emerging talent in art, design and architecture. She came to us with the task of converting a very conventional three bedroom apartment into a one bedroom loft to house her collection of art and a developing collection of furniture from emerging and established artists and designers such as Max Lamb, Franz West, Sebastian Wrong & Richard Woods, Studio Job, Marcel Wanders and Frank Gehry.

The architectural solution was to aerate and open up and the unit from demising wall to demising wall, allowing uninterrupted view the length of the loft. A “core”, finished in a matte pearl grey stucco lustro by Art-in-Construction was liberated from the existing plan and was developed to contain the kitchen laundry and service elements of the unit. A new Balthup kitchen with bright white Corian counters was relocated from the living area to one of the existing bedroom areas to allow for a more generous living loft. Sliding panels allow for privacy in the master and guest areas of the home. Finally, white lacquered oak flooring with silver grey graphite rubbed into the raised grain from LV flooring was installed throughout.
