Corbeille Series
Three curved panels comprise the structure of each object in this seating series, which is named for the “en corbeille” style of rounded sofa popular in eighteenth- and nineteenth-century France. The corbeille—or basket—informs the shape of the plush velvet ensconing the seat. Each panel is slightly separated from the other, creating a sense of modern abstraction in tension with the classic, cornerless forms. Filled with down and feathers, the upholstery invites lying, lounging—or even fainting.
